time to get going again [05 Jan 2004|11:18am]
[ mood | determined ]

have decided that i am going to sink as much time as possible in to the survival and growth of "The Guild" firstly by getting the social secs job (and doing it properly)

Then motivate eveyyone (including the GC) to get off their arses and take part. We need to forget the past and get on with it.

The Guild will be great again....oh yes

New rules ideas [20 Nov 2003|02:23pm]

[ mood | tired ]

Phew, well that's my take on the amended rules to hopefully prevent any further 'incidents' and persuade the Union to let us continue to operate.

If any of you experienced assassin types have any contribution to make then that would be great.

Re - The Sheffield Crisis [21 Oct 2003|06:59pm]
If the worst comes to the worst and we are shut down the Union will not let us reform as an assassins guild, but for those who enjoy the weapons and a bit of a laugh we could form something like a Duelling Society.

Eliminate the public hunting, run the game with circular target etc but all the "kills" are done in duels, and made as a public spectacle over a course of two weeks on university ground.

It might work. Any thoughts?

Two Sheffield assassins were arrested today for waving realistic-looking rubber pellet guns around.

They're still being held. Details here as we know them.

Sheffield vs Cambridge - continued..... [14 Oct 2003|01:12pm]

OK, trying to keep momentum going here...

Sheffield have got every weekend in November cleared to make it as easy as possible for Cambridge to fit it in. We also are not running a game other than the Varsity match (afaik) during Novmeber, so it should be just a case of fitting it around the Cambridge game.

Things to be clarified/discussed/debated/argued about
1, What dead players can and cannot do
2, Whether bombs are allowed (an if so, what rules to use)
3, Whether prjectile weapons can be used at point-blank range by saying "BANG!"
4, Whether limb hits are incapacitating or fatal
Who the Cam umpire is for their first non-Mafia game, so when i get on-line (later this week, hopefully), I can start sorting stuff out properly

So far, I think that's it. But can someone let me know a rough date even if its only which end of November the game is liable to be.....

Sheffield vs Cambridge [07 Oct 2003|01:48pm]

[ mood | blank ]

OK, on the off-chance that someone will actually respond to this, here we go.....

Sometime in November, Cambridge is ment to be raiding us lot up here in Sheffield. Seems straightforward enough, right? However, I'm meant to be the interface between the two Guilds, but atm I haven't got net access at home, so can't really act in this regard.

So, it be time for this LJ to be cranked back into life again, if only as a recepticle for any ideas about rules, dates, and how many people will be going to the Chinese on the Saturday evening.

Help? Please......

Speaking further of varsity games [27 May 2003|06:05pm]

Having e-mailed the entire Durham Exec, their President got back to me today. In his reply, he had this idea, which I'm going to share with you...

"We've been hoping to try and set up some sort of national official raiding league, which would set out standards for raiding, such as official rules, scoring etc. Hopefully this would mean more raiding and less confusion about how to do raids. If you would be interested in joining/helping us set something like this up then that would be

What do people think of the idea?

Speaking of Varsity matches.... [22 May 2003|09:14pm]

[ mood | curious ]

As some people reading this may be aware, there' s a planned game for mid to late November, with Sheffield at home, being raided by the apparently highly skilled hordes of Cambridge, if we are to read in their report of the defense against Durham.

There is, however, a few things we'll need to sort out first, such as rules etc. Now, I know that some of the more influential of the Cambridge assassins are reading this, as well as some of the Sheffield Guild Council (or those who know how to get hold of them). Does anyone out there have any thoughts on how this Varsity match should be run, or is it going to be sorted in a kind of last-minute jobby?

UK assassins' community [21 May 2003|02:55pm]

[ mood | creative ]

So as it turns out, there are a significant enough number of assassins (from Sheffield and Cambridge, at least) with livejournals that dysartes and I thought it was worth creating a community to collect them together. The community itself I imagine will be low-volume, although feel free to post interesting news if you have any (particularly stuff that would be interesting to other guilds, such as varsity match reports).

Finally, some pages for the guilds we know are still active:
